Jed Spurlock, PTA
Tell us a little about yourself (ex: Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school? What brought you to LC?)
I grew up in the small town of Arcadia, LA (15 miles from Ruston). I went to Ruston High. In high school I played tennis and ran track and cross country. I moved to Lake Charles in July of 2018 to start my career as a PTA with PIPT. I enjoy getting to learn many new techniques and having the opportunity to work in this amazing field.
I have a BS at LA Tech University in Kinesiology and an Associates of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant at Bossier Parish Community College.
How long have you been with PIPT?
What drew you to physical therapy?
Being a student athletic trainer in college and seeing the therapeutic aspect of treating players. Very interested in neurological disorders. (CVA, Guillian Barre, TBI, Brown Sequard) would love to specialize and continue further training in neuro conditions.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
Seeing patients get better and knowing I was apart of helping in the healing process.
What do you do for fun (ex: hobbies; crafts; volunteer; coach; watch football etc)?
Play with my dog Zeus, hike, kayak, woodworking, running, and camping.
Anything exciting on the horizon/ or just happened (ex: just completed a fellowship; taking a trip; training for a marathon; applying to PT school; got a new dog, etc)?
I will be attending a con ted course in Phoenix, AZ to learn more on pilates techniques to add more tools in my tool box for helping patients.
